Apple Mail guide
How to add a button to your Apple Mail signature.
Copy the finished button from Responello and paste it into a signature in Mail on your Mac. On iPhone and iPad, paste it into individual emails.
Install it in your email program
Choose where you use the button and which email program you use. The steps and the animation follow your choice.
- In Responello, click Copy button.
- If your Mac uses Dark Mode, first choose Mail › Settings › Viewing and turn off “Use dark backgrounds for messages”. This is a troubleshooting step if pasting changes the colours, not a guarantee of identical rendering. You can turn it back on afterwards; check a delivered test email.
- In Mail, choose Mail › Settings and click Signatures.
- Select the account, click the add button (+), name the signature and paste the button into the signature area.
- If the button loses its colours, turn off “Always match my default message font” and paste it again. Then send yourself a test email.
Official help: Create signatures in Mail on Mac
Mail on Mac
Create the signature in Mail settings and paste the button into it. If the colours disappear, turn off the option to always match your default message font and paste again.
- In Dark Mode, turn off “Use dark backgrounds for messages” in Mail › Settings › Viewing before you paste. Then check the colours in a delivered test email; appearance can differ between email apps.
- Select the account the signature belongs to.
- Write emails in rich text, not plain text.
- Send yourself a test email after saving.
iPhone and iPad
Open Responello in Safari, copy the button and paste it into the email you are writing. Signatures you create on your Mac are not synced to the iPhone signature setting.
- Touch and hold in the email body and choose Paste.
- Check the result in a test email first.
- Use the automatic reply of your email provider for out-of-office messages.
Practical notes
A received button can look different in Apple Mail. In our Outlook.com auto-reply test, the label was already underlined in the web editor. Apple Mail on Mac and iPhone also showed the button smaller with dark text. Both links worked. Keep the text link and check your own delivered message; its appearance alone does not identify the cause.
For out-of-office messages with the button, use the automatic reply of your email provider on the web, for example the Gmail vacation responder or Outlook automatic replies.
Replace the button wherever you use it after changing its design.
Put a button where the moment matters.
Create a button, choose where the signal should arrive, and test the complete confirmation flow.
